Winter Not Leaving Anytime Soon
Ski Big Bear has enjoyed excellent ski conditions for the past few weeks and with regular snowstorms those excellent conditions will continue. Ski Big Bear will operate on its regular daily schedule through Sunday, March 11th. It will then be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for as long as weather and business will allow.

After the leaves have fallen, the earthly contours of the mountains provide a peaceful beauty of their own. A fresh new snow on a sunny morning makes branches sparkle like crystal.
Route 97 stretches like a roller-coaster through the river valley. Bald eagles are a common site any time of year but more come from Canada in the winter. It's a quiet time--good for hiking, reflection, reading a good book in front of the fireplace, a romantic dinner at a neighboring restaurant . . and a sumptuous breakfast in the morning.

Every Saturday and Sunday in January & February: Eagle Institute volunteers with spotting scopes and binoculars will answer questions at key viewing areas.

Suggested Winter Itinery:
Day one: Check-in and relax with a cup of hot chocolate or tea and cookies in front of a fireplace. Stretch your legs with a walk across the Roebling Bridge  or to the Zane Grey access to take in some of the winter scenery and maybe see an eagle or two. Dine at the Inn at Lackawaxen, serving rack of lamb, filet mignon, pasta with portobellos. . . Or at the Cuckoos Nest, serving baked stuffed shrimp, sauerbraten, king crab legs. . .

Day two: Bring your camera and binoculars with you to several eagle-viewing locations. Bald eagles are here all year and we can direct you. Afterward, relax or workout nearby at a luxurious indoor pool and spa (fee). Or shop at Alice's Wonderland for high-quality outdoor gear, footwear and ski clothing (Carhartt, Kokatat, Wolverine, Smart Wool). Dine at Pinehurst for prime rib and salad bar.

Day three: With 100% snow-making, Ski Big Bear is only 5 miles away and offers downhill skiing, snow tubing, and snowboarding. Rentals and lessons are available. Enjoy 15% off lift tickets Saturdays & holidays. Or, go on a horse-drawn sleigh ride offered at Triple W riding stables if there is snow on the ground. Enjoy fine dining at Tre Alberi for gourmet Northern Italian cuisine, or The Carriage House for continental fare.
